And, since I've got your attention, I'd like to remind
you again that Mary Blew will be reading at the University of Idaho
Administration Building Auditorium. The event will be Friday, February 29th
at 7:30pm. She will read from Jackalope Dreams, her newest book, which has
been enormously well-received. Bring your Sadie Hawkins dream date with you!
Best wishes for a wonderful weekend!

I apologize for the flood of emails tonight. It turns
out, I neglected to include one last news item. Alert Reader Mary asked us
to pass this along to you, and I completely forgot! Sorry Mary, sorry
Readers! This is the last one, I promise! :-)
The spectacular Imani Winds will perform the final
concert of this year's Auditorium Chamber Music Series on Tuesday, March 4
at 7:30pm at the University of Idaho Auditorium. Featured will be a
newly-commissioned work by jazz great Wayne Shorter as well as pieces by
Ligeti, Piazzolla, and others. The Imanis will also give presentations on
various aspects of African-American music at the University of Idaho and at
Moscow High School on March 3-5.. The Auditorium Series website--www.auditoriumchambermusic.org--has
full details of the concert program and residency activities. Tickets for
the Tuesday night concert are available right here at BookPeople, and on the
web: $10 for students ($8 for UI students), $15 for seniors, and $18 for
general. Chick Correa says of a recent performance of the Shorter piece:
"Then his chamber music was performed by the Imani Winds, a New York wind
ensemble that absolutely killed Wayne's beautiful new chamber music written
for the ensemble." ('to kill' in musician talk means to play at the top
level of creative performance - to sound great, astounding, etc). You won't
want to miss this group.
