public, and everyone is encouraged to attend. The events and books are as

Friday, November 9th -
Come on down to the Cafe Silos from 6-9pm and party with
Lance Lushnig! His new gallery of Palouse Pictures will be on display. It's
the Cafe Silos one year anniversary party, to boot, so it should be a good
one! Definitely come stop by and see what's up! Lance is a great
photographer, and you won't want to miss his excellent opening celebration!
A Friend of the Clearwater writes: Join us Friday,
November 9, 6:30 p.m. at the 1912 Building in Moscow for our annual
membership celebration! This is our yearly chance to celebrate our members
and their dedication and also to reflect on our accomplishments this past
year as a group of concerned wild land advocates. As usual we will be having
wonderful live music, a silent auction, and plenty of food. Remember to
bring your favorite dish and beverage 'cause we do this potluck style.
Sounds like great fun, I think!
Friday, November 9th - Jack Nisbet will lecture on David
Douglas and the Natural Treasures of the Inland Northwest. David Douglas was
a Scottish Naturalist and the first outsider to travel the Hudson Bay
Company's fur trade routes. He made extensive observations, which he
recorded in letters sent to Europe. With the help of the Conner Museum and
Ownbey Herbarium collections, this event seeks to explore the things that he
saw. The event takes place at 7:00pm in the Heald auditorium, Heald G3.
There is a pre-lecture open house at the Ownbey Herbarium (Heald G9,
adjacent to the lecture hall) from 6:00-7:00, and a reception to follow at
Abelson Hall, on the first floor.
Are you sorry that there's less Daylight to be had as we
move in to the darker winter months? Well we've got something to cheer you
up! Goodbye Daylight 2007! An evening of live music with Steptoe, Zugunrue,
and Barewires! How could you possibly resist? I don't know either. Tickets

BookPeople of Moscow is proud to host author Gregg Olsen

the Sunshine Mine disaster in Kellogg, Idaho in 1972. He will appear at
BookPeople at 4 p.m. and then read from his work at the Kenworthy at 7 p.m.
Throughout his career, Gregg Olsen has demonstrated an ability to create a
detailed narrative that offers readers fascinating insights into the lives
of people caught in extraordinary circumstances. The Seattle native lives in
rural Washington state with his wife, twin daughters, cat, six chickens,
Milo (an obedience school dropout cocker spaniel) and Suri (a mini dachshund
so spoiled she wears a sweater).

on their respective days, in the University of Idaho Law Building Courtroom.

before the events.
