Greetings, Readers!

It is that time of the week again! I hope you enjoy our offerings, we've got a small number of excellent events for the discerning individual.

Saturday, May 19th - The Broken Valley Roadshow will be at the Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre. Doors open at 8:00pm, and tickets are available at Book People. The Broken Valley Roadshow is a bluegrass band, a style of music which I am rather fond of, and the testimonials we have heard as to their excellence and rocking-ness (a word which I was forced to make up specifically for this occasion) are both heartfelt and extremely encouraging. So go, Readers, and bring a friend who can catch you if you faint - The Broken Valley Roadshow will be tearing up the stage!

Sunday, May 20th, and 2:00pm - Forgotten Freight will be playing at Cordelia Lutheran Church! Forgotten Freight is an old-time country, bluegrass, and gospel music string band from Moscow, Idaho. I, as you know, adore bluegrass music, and I hope that you will take the time to check this out. It promises to be a lot of fun! And, of course, this concert is FREE - always a bonus! For more information, please see the Cordelia church website at http://users.moscow.com/elc/Cordelia/ .

Do you know a princess that likes to dance? Or a little girl who both wants to be a princess and to dance? Young girls ages five through seven are invited to the Princess Ballet Workshop, where they will learn the basics of ballet. They will also have a chance to make their own tutu, wand, and tiara, which they will keep when the workshop is over. The workshop runs from June 11th through 14th, from 9:00am to 10:30am at the University of Idaho PE Building. The registration fee for this wonderful workshop is a mere $75, which includes the cost of the tutu, wand, and tiara. Please pre-register by June 4th. The website for the workshop is http://www.festivaldance.org/default.asp?PageID=94

Have you ever wanted to dance a jig? Of course you have! That was a silly question. Jessie Hunter, master Celtic instructor, will be hosting a Ceili Celtic House Dance Party, on Saturday June 16th. The event will run from 3:00 until 6:00, and is a mere $10 per participant. Children of all ages are welcome, but those under the age of 7 must be accompanied by an adult. For more information, check out the website at http://www.festivaldance.org/default.asp?PageID=95

No silly questions this time - Come be in a production of Annie! Festival Dance has been busy, as you can see, coming up with fun and creative workshops for the summer. From July 30th through August 3rd, students will learn the basics of musical theatre and ultimately stage a performance of Annie on August 4th. Classes run from 9:00am to 1:00pm. The workshop is open to all children, ages six through eleven, and costs $85 in full. Space is limited to 20 students, so register early! The website for his workshop is http://www.festivaldance.org/default.asp?PageID=73.

Also, Readers, please remember that the seventh and final Harry Potter book is coming out in July. We are offering discounts of 20% on all pre-orders, and will be having a midnight party for the release of the book. Please come share this monumental occasion with us! And, for those who simply cannot wait, please come on down to Book People and check out our "What Would Harry Read" display, forthcoming, to find excellent young-adult fantasy novels to whet your appetite for the big event!

That is all for now, Readers. Our list of events (currently) is small, but the quality is great. If you have any other notable events of which we should be aware, please do not hesitate to email us with a short description of the item in question. We are always happy to add local events to the newsletter. I hope this leaves you in good health, and take care! -Book People of Moscow
