Greetings, Readers!
There is news, and then there is NEWS. This email
contains only the latter - that is to say events so exciting, you could not
possibly hope to miss them. And also sneak previews of things without
definite dates.
For example, in the near future, Book People of Moscow
will host an event with Mary Jo Hamilton. This event will have a good deal
to do with "The Zen of Socks", which is a DVD available from
www.societysocks.com. Forewarned is forearmed! We will tell you more as we
ourselves learn more.
Also, Readers, we thought you might like to know that
renowned new music sextet Eighth Blackbird will return to the Auditorium
Chamber Music Series, for a program called "Strange Imaginary Animals" on
Tuesday March 20. The concert is at 7:30 PM in the University Auditorium on
the University of Idaho campus. They have been here before, and every time
the response has been one of unanimous praise - don't miss your chance to
see them perform.
"Challenges for Mexico in the Post-FAFTA Era: Theory,
Law, Reality, and Alternatives" - a talk to be given by Onesimo Hidalgo,
co-director of the Center for Economic Research and Social Action. Hidalgo
will speak on March 22, at 12:30pm, in the University of Idaho College of
Law Courtroom. This event is free, and the public is encouraged to attend.
The Borah Symposium 2007 is fast approaching! This year's
topic is Women, War, and Peace. Three talks will be given: "Empowering Women
for Peace", by Mary Robinson (the former president of Ireland) will be April
2nd, at 7:00pm. "The Bougainville Women for Peace and Freedom Movement" will
be April 3rd at 7:00pm, and finally "Why do Governments Encourage Women to
Support their Wars?" will take place April 4th at 7:00pm. All events are in
the University of Idaho SUB Ballroom, and all of the meetings are free and
open to the public.
Finally, you might be interested to know that Hemp Fest
is accepting applications for vendors! The fee is a mere $50 for a 10'x10'
location, a pittance when one considers the massive volume of foot traffic
generated by the event. Should you wish to contact these wonderful people
about leasing a space at their event, or if you have any questions at all,
call 208-882-7506 or email tyedye@moscow.com. They'll set you straight! The
festival itself is slated to take place Saturday, April 21st, from 10am
until dusk. Don't miss out!
That's all we have for now, Readers. As always, thank you
for reading. Take care, and adieu until we meet again!
