Greetings, Readers!
Before we say anything else, BookPeople wishes to
congratulate all of the Moscow High School graduates for their hard work!
You've got the rest of your lives ahead of you, Graduates, but don't let
that daunting prospect slow you down. The most important thing to do now is
to have a fun summer! Best wishes on that account, and for your happy
futures!
Also, congratulations to Book Person Stacey, who has a
poem featured in the new Inner Visions. We carry Inner Visions here, and
strongly recommend them to anyone who wants to see what the future of
literature looks like (it's good, we promise).
June 21st - The Idaho Repertory Theatre opens its summer
season with "Elvis People", a hunka hunka hit by Doug Grissom. 9 our of 10
people in America are, in fact, Elvis People - are you one? Find out soon!
Linda Edwards wants everyone to know about the
Friends of the Cordelia concert series! The next installment, featuring John
Elwood, Sally Burkhart, and John Steel, is on June 24th, at the Cordelia, at
2:00pm. This concert is free and open to the public. You are invited, nay
encouraged to attend and enjoy the show.
June 30th - Paula Coomer will read and sign her new book,
Summer of Government Cheese, from 12:00 noon until 2:00pm, right here at
Book People. Paula is an exceptionally gifted writer, and we're positive
that you'll have a good time if you come down and check out her work.
July 6th - Clay Eals will be at Book People from 4pm to
7pm, to talk about his book "Facing the Music", a biography of Steve
Goodman. "Facing the Music" has won critical acclaim and Brian Gill will
also be around, and may even favor the crowd with a song before his concert,
which will follow at the One World Cafe.
Concerts! Specifically, the Rendezvous Chamber Orchestra
concerts! They are as follows:
Monday, July 16th, at 6:30pm, at the 1912 building. A
Heart of the Arts presentation
Wednesday, July 18th, at 3:00pm, for the Good Samaritan Village Concert.
Thursday, July 19th, at 12:15pm, at the WSU Holland Memorial Library Atrium
(part of the Lunchtime Atrium Series)
Friday, July 20th, at 7:30, at the First United Methodist Church in Moscow.
Saturday, July 21st, at Troy's city park, for the Troy Frontier Days
Celebration.
Sunday, July 22nd, at 3:00pm, at the Hampton School of Music Recital Hall,
for the Rendezvous Concert. The Monday through Saturday concerts are all
free of charge, and everyone is welcome (and encouraged!) to attend. The
Sunday concert does have an admission cost, which we will gladly inform you
of as soon as we learn of it. But rest assured that the concert will be well
worth the cost of admission.
The latest development in the ongoing Harry Potter Party
Preparations: a wizard-hat piņata! Come hungry for candy, Readers, because
at some point during the night, the kids will get to take a swing at a
wizard-hat piņata loaded with sweets. Unfortunately, the Chocolate Frogs all
escaped (they are surprisingly tricky little buggers), so we will simply
have to pack it with mundane candy. But still, CANDY! This will, of course,
be an outside toy, so you need not fear for your safety. Unless, of course,
you are a wizard-hat piņata full of candy. And remember, the Harry Potter
Party takes place on July 21st, at 12:00am - the very first minute of the
very first hour of the day! Come in and check it out, it's guaranteed to be
an exciting time.
Take care, and Best Wishes!
-Book People of Moscow
