Greetings, Readers!
A slightly pre-emptive happy Fourth of July to you all! I
hope you pass it in safety and, more importantly, good cheer. If you have no
plans for tomorrow, then I have a suggestion, courtesy of Linda Pall, for a
plan you may enjoy. Linda Pall writes: "Fourth of July Celebration!!! City

Free ice cream! THIS EVENT IS FREE AND EVERYONE IS INVITED! We urge everyone
to have a glorious Fourth of July and celebrate our nation's 231st birthday
in style, with friends and ice cream! Thank you for the heads up, Linda!
There are also many other events you may enjoy. For
example: Vicki Bradley, Palouse Arts Council President, writes: "The 3rd
Annual Palouse Art Walk will be held July 6th, 7th and 8th, 2007. Work by 23
artists will be placed at downtown businesses and at the Grange building
located at 210 East Bluff Street in Palouse. Artwork may be viewed at the
Grange from 5- 9 pm on Friday the 6th, 11 am- 6 pm on Saturday the 7th, and
11 am- 2 pm on Sunday the 8th. Downtown businesses will display the art
Friday- Sunday afternoons. The opening reception at the Grange on Friday
evening will include adult beverages and appetizers. Cookies and punch will
be served at the Grange during other display times. Performances by area
musicians will also be held at the Grange."
Also, remember that Clay Eals will be playing a concert
soon! Very soon! The 6th, as a matter of fact. He'll be at BookPeople on
Friday, July 6th to talk about his book "Facing the Music", a biography of
Steve Goodman. Afterwards, Brian Gill will play a concert at the One World
Cafe, which we are all very excited about. It'll be a good time, guaranteed!
Both Clay Eals and Brian Gill are very talented individuals who have won
critical acclaim for their work. Seeing both of them in an evening is a rare
treat indeed!
Readers, we have received our Wizard-Hat piņata! It is
ready for deployment for the Harry Potter Party later this month. Also, we
have updated pre-release plans! The party is slated to start Friday at
10:00pm or so; whenever people begin congregating outside. Things will
really pick up at midnight, once the doors open and we are finally allowed
to sell the book. I have included for your convenience and enjoyment a
poster created by the remarkably talented Dona Black, BookPeople of Moscow's
designer extraordinaire. I should here apologize for the quality of the
image. The original is fairly large and quite detailed. I was forced to
sacrifice some quality in order to keep it down to a reasonable size. The
failing here is my own, however, and if you are dissatisfied with this
meager facsimile, then come to BookPeople and pick up the real thing! We
should have them ready in a few days.
Finally, Readers, do you like the Cordelia church? That's
probably a silly question; of course you do! The Friends of the Cordelia are
having a special concert series to raise awareness of this architectural
wonder. If you like good music, you may be interested to know that the next
artist playing there is Hugh Moffatt, who will be playing music from his
album "Songs From the Back of the Church." He will be playing in front of
the church this time, but it still promises to be a good time! For those who
are curious about Hugh Moffatt, here is a link to his website (this will
take you directly to his news item about the show, which includes
directions):

more about the Cordelia church, then here is a link to its website:

Cordelia will be Sunday, July 29th, at 2:00pm.
Best Wishes, Readers! I hope you have a good Fourth of
July! -BookPeople of Moscow
