Greetings Everybody,
University of Idaho student Lucas Howell has been awarded
the great honor of having two of his poems published in Poetry magazine.
This is an amazing accomplishment and we hope that you all have the time to
check out the feature piece on him on the U of I website.

Also, keep your eyes pealed for the publication. "My
Private Idaho, No Boundaries" hangs at Lewis Clark State College's Center
for Arts & History in Lewiston. The show may be a bit out of the way but
features many local artists such as Nara Croft, Carolyn Doe, Ray Esparsen,
Jim Gale, Elaine Green, Jill Hosmer, and Gordon Tally. This show will appear
until February 3 and will be open for viewing Tuesday through Saturday from
11am until 4pm.
We have calendars for the new year, cards for any
occasion, and an assortment of new and used books anyone receiving this
newsletter would appreciate.
Paula Coomer reads on. In January, she will continue the
fourth reading of Dove Creek, her new novel. She reads Tuesday nights,
recommencing the 9th, followed by the 16th and will finish up the 17th. The
readings are hosted at BookPeople and will begin at 8pm. If you have not yet
made a reading, do not hesitate. The story unfolds each reading.
Anticipating the end of January? One bright event in this
increasingly grey month is the up and coming Martha Stewart magazine. In
which Paul Brians will be featured. Paul Brians is a professor of English at
WSU and has been recommended by several periodicals and publications
including the BBC online and Life magazine. Join in his success and check
out Martha Stewart's Blue Print magazine.
Enjoy "A Night with the Stars" sponsored by Sojourners'
Alliance. Get dressed up, walk the red carpet and watch the academy awards.
There will be a hearty hors d'oeurvre, cash bar and silent auction. Get your
tickets at BookPeople for $50. February 25 at the Latah County Fairgrounds
from 4-10pm.
The highly anticipated Burns Night is in our midst.
January 20 in the SUB Borah Ballroom at 6:30pm begins the fun. Swing by
BookPeople and grab a ticket, for $25, before it is too late.
A rare delight is about to make its appearance on the
Palouse. February 11 at 3pm the St. Petersburg Classic Ballet will be
performing in the Beasley Coliseum. For more information check
www.festivaldance.org This will be quite a treat of classical Russian Dance!

interest journal/ magazine calling itself Gumption. If you would like to
contribute poetry, short fiction, artwork, illustrations, cartoons,
