Greetings, Readers!
Three in one week, eh? A bit of a hat trick; I hope
you're not getting tired of me. I normally like to keep to just the single
email on Tuesday, but we came across some information you might want to
hear.
First of all, Mr. Doerr will not, unfortunately, be
reading tonight at the Kenworthy. He has fallen badly ill with a virus, a
little present from one of his children, and was forced to reschedule his
visit. Mr. Doerr graciously wrote us to inform us of the change, and we
thought that you might want to know, if you were thinking of attending. He
has promised to let us know once a new date is picked, and we in turn
promise to pass that information on to you as soon as we can. Meanwhile,
let's all wish Mr. Doerr a swift return to good health and good spirits!
Also, Judy Sobeloff was hoping that I could mention one
last time that her Writing Workshop is still looking for enthusiastic
writers to join them for their ten-week course. The instructors this year
are: Mary Clearman Blew, Peter Chilson, Annie Lampman, Ron McFarland, Gail
Miller, Joy Passanante, Brandon Schrand, Judy Sobeloff, and Georgia Tiffany
- quite a cast, I must say! The workshop covers fiction, nonfiction, and
poetry. Writers will have the opportunity to share the fruits of their
labours with an eager audience both on-air at KRFP as well as during a
reading at BookPeople (to be held November 12th). Previous years have seen
some truly excellent writing produced, and I consider myself most fortunate
to have been at the last few readings. Applications are due by September
5th. A direct link to the form: http://www.moscow-arts.org/MCCWWapp.pdf , or
for details see the main page at http://www.moscow-arts.org/ . The deadline
is next Wednesday (hence why I wanted to include it in this update; you'll
need time to get your application together!) I hope that anyone who is
interested at all in writing will consider attending - I have heard nothing
but good things (and great writing!) from previous participants, and the
teaching lineup this year is very impressive.
That's all, Readers - next week, we will return to our
regularly scheduled emails!
Best Wishes to you all!
