Hello Everybody, Saturday, November 11th, Don Orlich will be
here from 11:00-1:00. He will sign and discuss his book, "School Reform: the
Great American Brain Robbery," which is an indictment of public education
that draws upon 50 years in that field.
Wednesday, November 15th, the Moscow
Community Creative Writing Workshop will read in the store at 7:00 PM. Works
will include original fiction, nonfiction, and poetry by the 2006 MCCWW.
Come support our local writers!
Thursday, November 16th, Ann Pancake will
read as a part of WSU's Visiting Writer series. She writes fiction and
nonfiction, and "Given Ground" won a Bakeless award. Beat
Hollywood to the good stuff: Philip Pullman's young adult trilogy, "His Dark
Materials," is a wonderfully written fantasy that roughly parallels
"Paradise Lost" and has been lauded as the successor to Lord of the Rings.
The trilogy--The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber
Spyglass--is approachable for a young reader and complex enough to withstand
analysis in academic circles.
A movie starring Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig, and Dakota
Blue Richards is slated to appear in 2007. Beat the hype and read! Cheers,
