Greetings, Readers!
Interesting weather we've been having recently. I hope
none of you were caught out in Pullman's now infamous hailstorm earlier
today. It looks like it's blown over, and the sun even is shining on Main
Street at the moment. Hopefully, this is a sign of better things to come!
Artist Jan L. Kirchhoff will have a gallery display, entitled A Visial
Experience into the Spirit of Powwow. The gallery will be open daily between
June 14th and 17th, from the hours of 10:00am until 5:00pm. The exhibit is
at the Lewis-Clark State College Student Union Building. The Artwalk is
nearly upon us! Book People of Moscow is proud to host the Million Bear
Project, a collaboration between Jeanne Leffingwell and Moscow High School
and McDonald Elementary School students. Our opening reception will be June
16th from 4:00 - 7:00pm, and the art will be viewable at any time during our
store hours, which are 9:00am - 8:00pm, seven days a week! We hope you will
take some time to come by and admire the art, and maybe even do the Art
Walk! Rendezvous In The Park is coming to town! And Book People is selling
buttons! $32 gets you a snappy button which also counts as a pass to all
four days! Or, if you prefer individual days, you can get tickets online at
the Rendezvous website at www.moscowmusic.com. Thursday, July 20th is World
Beat Rock, then Friday is Blues Night, Saturday is Latin Groove, and Sunday
is Classical Afternoon. There are far too many excellent acts to list them
all here, Readers, I will say that this year looks like a blast! Wallace and
Gromit, Curse of the Were-Rabbit will be playing at the Kenworthy June 28th
at 1:00pm. However, as sponsors, we are also allowed to attend the night
showing. And we are allowed to bring guests! I think you know where we are
going with this, Readers. If you bring a printed page of this newsletter (or
any of our newsletters between now and the 28th), we will consider it your
ticket to the night showing! More information on this extra-special event
will be forthcoming, I promise. Speaking of better things, Readers, there is
a Farm Fair at MaryJanesFarm! This event takes place July 1 and 2, from
10:00am - 4:00pm. The event will include, among other things, Antiques, Farm
Collectibles, Live Music, Yummy Food, and of course Fun & Games. I don't
think I have to tell you that this will be great fun, Readers. If you'd like
to know more, however, you can check out the website at
www.maryjanesfarm.org, or give them a call at 208-882-6819. A few items of
local interest you might want to keep an eye out for: - Lynn Skinner is in
the June 2006 issue of Downbeat magazine, recieving the 15th annual Downbeat
Achievement Award in Jazz Education. - Runner's Summer Fitness July 2006
Edition features Josh Ritter on the back page, discussing why he is a
runner. - The July/August Edition of Artist Magazine features Moscow as one
of six 'art-friendly towns'! - Claire Davis' new book of short stories,
Labors of the Heart, will be out from St. Martin's press in October! - Pete
Chilson's new book, a novella with short stories, entitled Disturbance
Loving Species, will be out in the fall of 2007. And that's about all for
now, Readers! Thank you for reading, and take care!
