Greetings from the unconventional storehouse of unusual
gifts for the discerning (or persnickety, or downright stubborn) person who
has it all. A sampling of gifts available for those who already have
everything: a gift card recognized at independent booksellers across the
nation, tickets to arts events, or the wine tasting coming in March. We also
have myriad greeting cards for any holiday or other notable event. And it is
never too early to start planning for next year with one of our calendars
for any occasion!
This Friday, our very own Ariella Schreck, mixed media
artist, has works in a show opening in the Above the Rim Gallery. The
featured artists will be present from 5-8 PM.
Saturday, December 9th, join us for a reading and signing
with author Michael Cannela. The author of "Arcalian Apocalypse," and his
newest work, "Children of Prophesy," will be here from 1-3 PM. Cannela's
works are set in a fantasy universe where nostalgia occludes an underlying
bleakness, and his characters seek balance therein.
Sunday the 10th, M.J. Engh will be here from 12:00-2:00
PM. Engh is a science fiction author and an "independent scholar of Roman
history." She will read and sign "In the Name of Heaven: 3,000 years of
religious persecution," which, according to her website, is "the first
English-language general history of religious persecution worldwide, from
ancient Egypt through 1900."
Happy reading!
