Greetings, Readers!

I hope this letter finds you all well. We're writing to you from (currently) sunny Moscow. Hopefully, it will stay that way. Spring is coming, Readers! I hope you are as ready for it as we are. Enough of these short, cold days. There are few things finer than sitting outside, in the sun, with a good book, and I think we are all looking forward to the days when this is again possible.

Remember, Readers, that this weekend is the weekend to see A Walk in the Woods at the Kenworthy! The remaining performances are Friday and Saturday night at 7:30pm, as well as Saturday afternon at 2:00pm. Tickets are available at Book People (or at the Kenworthy box office in the hour before the performance). Don't miss out, Readers! Pick up your ticket today!

Saturday, April 8th - Fred Rabe! Book People! Fred Rabe is the author of 'Exploring High Mountain Lakes in the Rockies'. Saturday, April 8th, from 12:00pm - 2:00pm he will be reading from his book and signing copies, right here at Book People of Moscow! If you're looking for things to do once hiking season starts up, Readers, this would be a good place to start. Come on by and check it out!

Alert Reader Judy thought that you all might like to know this:
"Joy Passanante will lead a free creative writing workshop called "Scenes

From a Life" on Sat. 4/8 from 9:30 am-12:30 p.m. at the 1912 Center in

Moscow as part of Latah County Writes.  Participants will use techniques of personal essay and memoir which will lead to the completion of well-developed scenes from their lives.  To sign up for the workshop, call Diane Baumgart at 882-0971 or email freewriting@turbonet.com.  Limited walk-ins are also welcome.  Light refreshments will be served.  For more information see www.latahlibrary.com." Thanks Judy!

Sunday, April 9th, at 4:00pm, Joy Passanante will be at Book People, reading and signing copies of her books. Joy Passanante is the author of three books - My Mother's Lovers (a novel), The Art of Absence (a short story collection), and Sinning in Italy (a book of poems). She is also very nice and extremely talented, and it would be well worth your time to come meet her.

R.T. Smith will be reading at the University of Idaho! The event will take place Tuesday, April 11th at 7:30pm in room 040 of the Teaching and Learning Center (The TLC Building - the one attached to the UI Commons Building). Mr Smith has written a dozen books of poetry as well as a collection of short stories, and has been widely published. He is also the editor of SHENANDOAH, a (deservedly) famous literary journal that has featured countless excellent authors. The reading is free to attend and everyone is welcome. If anyone would like more information, please call 885-6156.

Also, Readers, this month is Poetry Month! Do you know what that means? Well, aside from the obvious, you should know that Book People is having a contest! With prizes! Come in, find one of the Poetry Month posters, and figure out in  which books the poems quoted first appeared. Then, write down your answers an give them to an employee, and we'll do the rest!
